Do you want to learn how to draw Ferb from Phineas and Ferb? My kids have a favorite cartoon on Disney and that is Phineas and Ferb. I have to admit that I love it too. My husband and I just crack up every time we see this show. I have put together a step-by-step tutorial that will help you figure out how to draw Ferb by using simple shapes to build up Ferb’s form. This is an intermediate cartooning tutorial that older kids, teens, and adults will enjoy. Even some younger children might be able to draw Ferb if you stand by to help with the instructions. Enjoy! Thank you to Dan Povenmire from Disney’s Phineas and Ferb for helping me make this drawing better.

Step 1
If you look at the sketched image above, you are probably wondering why I am teaching how to draw Ferb when I’m such an awful artist. 🙂 I purposely sketched out the basic shapes that I see in Ferb’s body shape. Did you ever notice that Ferb has a rectangle shaped head and nose? Have you noticed that his body is very rectangular-shaped? Sketching out the basic shapes (lightly) before drawing the more specific shape of Ferb, is an easy way to get a better drawing.
Step 2
I am going to keep the basic-shape sketch out so you can see the basic shape of Ferb still. Notice that Ferb’s ear has a backwards number ‘3’ in the ear. The ear on the other side of Ferb’s head would have a forward-facing ‘3’. Now we can hone down the more ‘accurate’ shape of Ferb’s head.Don’t worry about mistakes because you can erase these later. Later, you will be using a pen or marker to outline the ‘right’ lines.
Step 3
Now you can make Ferb’s eyes. Notice that the farther eye is larger (in real life the closer eye would be larger). Each of the eyes are egg-shaped. You can also draw Ferb’s hair.
Step 4
Draw little circles and erase a little bit out of the circle for a highlight. Notice that the bigger iris is in the closer eye.
Step 5
Now you can draw Ferb’s collar. Notice that it sort of looks like a ‘B’ facing downwards.
Step 6
Now draw the left shirt sleeve and the top of Ferb’s pants. The top of his pants are rectangle-shape, ‘V’-shape, rectangle-shape, ‘V’-shape.

Very good! But you forgot the “threes” (or in this case “Backward threes” because he is looking screen left) in all the characters’ ears. Plus, although it has been known to happen, Ferb almost never lowers his eyelids. This would be a huge show of emotion for him. We keep him bug-eyed in 99% of the drawings.

WOW WOW WOW!!! I am very star struck. I am a huge fan of you and all of the shows that you have worked with. Thanks for the advice and I will update the tutorial soon to reflect your advice…I wouldn’t want Ferb to show any sort of emotion. 🙂
Thanks…
Rachel
