Written-Out Step by Step Drawing Instructions

(STEP 01) Start off with her face. Draw a sideways letter “C” shape.

(STEP 02) Draw a backward “C” shape and an oval for the eyes.

(STEP 03) Finish off the right eye to look like an egg. Draw a curved line on the left side of the face.

(STEP 04) Draw “W”-like shapes and a curved line to start off Ponyo’s hair.

(STEP 05) Continue drawing “W”-like shapes.

(STEP 06) Draw “V”-like shapes now.

(STEP 07) Draw a slightly wavy line on the left side of the hair. Draw an “M”-like shape at the top of the head.

(STEP 08) Draw curved lines and 2 circles.

(STEP 09) Draw a curved line and a short straight line to finish off the hair. Draw 2 curved lines for her nose and mouth.

(STEP 10) Draw a partial circle for part of her body.

(STEP 11) Draw sideways “V” shapes for her fin-arms.

(STEP 12) Draw a sideways #3-like shape below her stomach.

(STEP 13) Draw a shape that looks like a flattened backward #3 shape (in that it slightly curves in and then curves back out and around).

(STEP 14) Draw a short straight line, a curved line, as well as a backward “?”-like shape.

(STEP 15) Draw a backward (flattened) “?”-like shape. Also, draw a curved line at the bottom of her face.

(STEP 16) Draw a bunch of curved lines (I think these are supposed to represent the water movement.)

(STEP 17) Color the picture in.
