How to Draw Cartoon Facial Expressions : Scared, Petrified, Afraid, Terrified, Panic

This is the second tutorial in a large series of tutorials on drawing facial expressions or silly faces. This particular lesson is on how to draw a cartoon face (boy) in a state of utter panic. He is terrified of something and his eyes are super big and his pupils really small. His mouth is hung open really big so you can see his tongue.  We have broken this tutorial down to many steps, so hopefully, it is easy enough for you to learn how to draw. Happy Drawing!

Written-Out Step by Step Drawing Instructions

(Step 1) Draw a “U” shaped face.

(Step 2) Draw curved lines at the top of the face.

(Step 3) Draw “C” shaped ears and curved lines for the neck.

(Step 4) Draw “M” shaped bangs. Draw a line as well.

(Step 5) Draw curved lines for the sides of the hair. Draw an upside-down “V” to finish off the bangs.

(Step 6) Draw zig-zags at the top of the hair (or just draw an “M” and a “W”.

(Step 7) Add some details.

(Step 8) Draw 2 ovals for eyes.

(Step 9) Draw a dot in each eye. Draw a “C” shape for both sides of the nose.

(Step 10) Draw a curved line for each nostril and eyebrow.

(Step 11) Draw a sideways “C” shape for a huge frown.

(Step 12) Draw a slightly curved line for the bottom of the mouth.

(Step 13) Connect the top and bottom of the mouth with curved lines.

(Step 14) Draw a bunch of curved lines all over the face. The ones around the eyes are expressive lines that help show the panic in his eyes.

(Step 15) Draw a bunch of dots on his cheeks (if you want him to have freckles)

(Step 16) Draw a curved line for the bottom of his tongue.

You can fill in the mouth and then you are done.
