Today I’ll show you how to draw a realistic cute little girl’s head / face from the front view. We break it down for you into almost 30 steps…this is great for beginners, although don’t expect to get it right the first time. It’s a great black and white pencil tutorial for sketching portraits. Take the time to go through this tutorial and you’ll love the results.
(Step 1) Draw a circle with lines through the center.
(Step 2) Find the centers through the horizontal line. Draw a line down from the centers. Also find the center of the bottom part of the vertical line. Draw a dash.
(Step 3) Find the centers again on the horizontal line. Draw a circle between the 2 vertical lines. Draw it from the center dash on the bottom vertical line. Find the center on the vertical line as well (only needed on the top part).
(Step 4) Draw an oval at the bottom of the small circle. Draw a line across the top of the smaller circle. Draw a tiny circle on the bottom of the huge circle…this is a lip guide line.
(Step 5) Draw a big circle and 2 small circles for the nose guide lines. Draw 2 circles that are higher up on either side of the small lip circle you drew in step #4.
(Step 6) Draw a circle for center of each eye. Use guide lines to place them. Use the guide lines to draw the chin.
(Step 7) Draw lines around the nose guide lines and lip guide lines…as I have done.
(Step 8) Draw a circle around previous eye circles. Draw #9/#6 like shapes for nostrils. Continue drawing the lips.
(Step 9) Draw sides of face. Continue drawing lips. Draw a curved line on each eye.
(Step 10) Draw a curved line at the bottom of each eye. Draw curved lines for each ear. Continue drawing the lips.
(Step 11) Draw curved lines for eye lids. Finish outer shapes of eyes. Draw a curved line for bottom of bottom lip.
(Step 12) Draw lines at sides of face. Draw sides of lips. Draw curved lines for eye lashes. Draw a curved line at each inner eye.
(Step 13) Draw tiny little lines for eye brows. Draw neck / shoulders. Draw upside down “J” shapes for top of hair. Draw sideways #7 shapes for bangs.
(Step 14) Draw “U”-like shapes for ends of hair. Draw “V” shape for collar.
(Step 15) Draw “S” shape for the strand of hair. Draw upside down “Y” shapes for braids.
(Step 16) Continue with the upside down “Y” shapes.
(Step 17) Draw lines outside of braids.
(Step 18) Draw “W” shape for collar. Draw curved lines for bottoms of braids.
(Steps 19+20) Draw a lot of lines, filling in each individual hair. Follow curve of braid’s curved lines with your individual hairs.
(Step 21) Lightly shade the face…smudge it a bit. Shade the eyes and lips and ears a slightly darker shade of gray.
(Step 22) Draw the eyes. (A) Fill in the center eye as black as you can make it. (B) Scribble in the eye. (C) Scribble more and then shade outer part darker gray / black. (D) take a white pencil and draw highlights. Shade in the upper eye lid. (E) Shade upper eye lid darker at very top and very bottom. (F) Lightly shade bottom of eye…as well as center. (G) Lightly draw tiny eye lashes.
(Step 23) Shade top of bottom lip.
(Step 24) Shade outer edges of lip. Draw bottom of bottom lip. Shade the nose as I have…a very light shading.
(Step 25) Take a white pencil and shade center of both lips. Shade outer edges of neck, as I have.
(Step 26) If you are able to, erase the dark lines of the nose. I only drew them dark to show you how to draw the nose.

You are an extroidinarily talented, true artist. Thank you for the tutorial. I will try it, however I’m a bit leary about having to erase all of the guide lines.
Nice thank you ! :)

Great tutorial!! thank you :))
It is really hard but pretty
Nice but we want the type of pencils used
Whoa so awesome :D :D Do you think you could draw the Mane 6 from My Little Pony as humans - or, at least, do tutorials on Equestria Girls characters?
