Learn How to Draw & Shade Noses from the Side and Front View : Drawing and Shading Noses Tutorial
Written-Out Step by Step Instructions
I like drawing on tinted paper…it doesn’t have to be gray…but it will be easier to follow the tutorial if you also draw your noses on tinted paper…because I will be using white pencil
Nose #1 (From the Side)
(Step 1) Draw a letter ‘J’ that is tilted.
(Step 2) Draw a curved letter ‘c’ shape for the nostril.
(Step 3) Draw 2 curved lines.
(Step 4) Draw a curved line at the side of the nose.
(Step 5) Continue the curved line into a nostril shape – it looks like a sideways #6 shape.
(Step 6) Add some white hatch-marks (inter-crossing lines).
(Step 7) Add some black shadows.
(Step 8) Add some crosshatching around the sides.
(Step 9) Add a bit more black to the right of the nostril and to the left. Also darken some of the white.
Nose #2 (From the Front)
(Step 1) Draw a curved line.
(Step 2) Draw 2 curved lines below and to the left.
(Step 3) Draw a few more curved lines.
(Step 4) Draw curved lines for the nostrils. Also lightly add a curved line on the left-top.
(Step 5) Connect the lines together.
(Step 6-8) Start adding some shadows.
(Step 9) Add some white highlights.
(Step 10) Darken some of the shadows on the left-side of the nose and around the tip of the nose.
(Step 11) Add some shadows to the nostrils.
(Step 12) Add more shadows below nose…and on left-side of nose.
(Step 13) I darkened some shadows and then blended it in by drawing white lines on top of it(lightly).
