How to Draw Batman in Retro DC Comics Style – Simple Steps Drawing Lesson

Written Step by Step Instructions

(Step 1) Draw a square for the face. Draw letter ‘v’ shapes for the ears. Draw an upside down letter ‘T’ shape for the neck.

(Step 2) Draw a letter ‘L’ shape for the nose. Draw the sides of the face and the ears. Draw an oval under the face.

(Step 3) Draw an upside down letter ‘J’ shape on top of the head. Draw a letter ‘j’ and ‘?’ shape at eye level. Draw a letter ‘M’ shape at the bottom of the mask. Draw moon shapes in the oval.

(Step 4) Draw a backwards letter ‘S’ shape on the left side of the face. Draw eye brows. Draw bottoms of eyes. Draw a line below the nose and a sideways letter ‘v’ shape for the chin-line. Draw a curved line and two letter ‘m’ shapes in the oval.

(Step 5) Draw basic shapes for the body. These are guides. Draw a letter ‘M’ shape in the oval. Draw facial features that are remaining.

(Step 6) Draw guides for fingers. Draw letter ‘V’ shapes on the arms. Draw #3 shapes on his chest. Draw a #5 shape under his right arm and on his thighs. Draw a letter ‘S” shape on the right hand.

(Step 7) Continue drawing fingers / hand. Draw a belt. Start drawing the bottom of the cape. Draw features of his legs.

(Step 8) Continue adding details to arms. Add the last finger on the right hand. Draw belt and chest details. Draw his underwear. Continue drawing legs and his cape.

(Step 9) Continue drawing his cape, chest, and belt. Add a #3-shape to his knee.

(Step 10) Draw letter ‘S’ curves to the left-side cape. Draw simple shapes on his arms and chests.

(Step 11) Erase any remaining guidelines. Darken / thicken remaining lines. Add blackened areas.
