How to Draw Roses Step by Step Tutorial

Step 1

Lightly draw a lowercase letter ‘e’ shape.

Step 2

Draw these curvy lines … using the letter ‘e’ as a guide.

Step 3

Now draw these lines to close off the shapes that you drew in the last step.

Step 4

Lightly draw an oval and a letter ‘s’ shaped curved line for the stem.

Step 5

Now lets draw petals around the inside of the oval that you drew in the last step. Lightly draw ovals for the leaves.

Step 6

– Draw letter ‘v’ shapes on the leaf ovals…also draw a diamond leaf. Draw a few more basic shapes within the flower area.

Step 7

– Outline the guide shapes that you drew for the leaves. Also draw a few more basic shapes within the flower area such as a #3 and #7 shape.

Step 8

Draw 2 more curved lines in the flower area. Also erase the guidelines (blue in our tutorial).

Finished Rose

Add a few lines in the leaves. You now have a beautiful line drawing of a rose. You can color it in and give your picture to someone you love for Valentine’s Day or for any other day that you want to show your affection.
