Do you want to learn how to draw Chris Griffin from Family Guy? I have put together a step-by-step tutorial that will help you figure out how to draw the big brother, Chris, by using simple shapes to build up Chris’ form. This is an intermediate cartooning tutorial that kids, teens, and adults will enjoy. Even some younger children might be able to draw Chris if you stand by to help with the instructions. Enjoy! How to Draw Chris Griffin from Family Guy : Step by Step Drawing Tutorial

 

The above picture of a cartoon Chris Griffin from Family Guy is what we will be drawing step by step today. Find this drawing tutorial below. Get out a piece of paper, a pencil, and a black marker. Good luck.

Step 1

First, lightly draw out the basic shapes of Chris.

Step 2

Now lets concentrate on Chris’ face. Lightly draw 2 lines cutting the head into quarters (one cutting the oval shaped head in half horizontally and one vertically). Now that you did this, you will be able to more easily see where to place Chris’ facial features. Now draw Chris’ nose, a letter ‘j’. Remember that the blue lines are there to show you placement position.

Step 2

Now lets draw Chris’ eyes as two letter ‘U’s.

Step 3

Now lets draw Chris’ slow / tired looking eyes by giving him low eyelids. Also draw a dot for each of Chris’ pupils.

Step 4

I put a vertical orange line on either side of Chris’ nose to show you where to place Chris’ mouth (which is a sideways question mark looking shape without the dot). The distance between the nose and the mouth is about the same distance from the top of the eyes sto the bottom of the nose.

Step 5

Now lets draw the beginning of Chris’ chin…just draw a sideways ‘j’ under the lip.

Step 6

Now lets draw the another part of Chris’ chin. I drew an orange vertical line from the start of Chris’ nose to show you where to place the chin line (another ‘j’ like shape).

Step 7

Now lets draw the last part of Chris’ chin. Just draw a ‘U’ like shape next to the previous chin shape.

Step 8

Now lets draw the starting of the rim of Chris’ baseball hat. Draw a sideways ‘s’ like shape…starting from the eyelid on Chris’ right eye.

Step 9

Now lets draw the top of the rim of Chris’ baseball hat. Draw a downwards curved line from the right side of the baseball rim to a bit past the left side of Chris’ head.

Step 10

Now lets draw the top of Chris’ baseball cap.

Step 11

Draw the right side of Chris’ face by drawing a sideways letter ‘c’ type shape from the right side of Chris’ eye to about where the left shirt sleeve starts.

Step 12

Now lets draw Chris’ left ear and hair on the right side of his face. I drew the blue and orange lines to show you where the ear and hair starts and ends. This is a helpful way to make sure things are proportional to the Family Guy Chris that everyone knows.

Step 13

Now draw Chris’ earring and hair from the left side of his face. The earring looks like a doughnut and the hair looks a bit like a capital ‘W’.

Step 14

Draw More of Chris’ punk hair. Draw a capital letter ‘W’ like shape again.

Step 15

Now draw the left part of Chris’ hair and arm by drawing two inwards curved lines.

Step 16

Draw a letter ‘u’ for the first finger.

Step 17

Draw another letter ‘u’ for the second finger.

Step 18

Now draw a tall letter ‘j’ for Chris’ last finger and right side of his hand / arm.

Step 19

Ahhhh…Chris is almost done…and I bet you are liking what you see on your own paper. I drew an orange vertical line along the right side of Chris’ hair … I also drew a blue horizontal line along Chris’ chine. The place where these 2 lines meet is where you should start the line that represents Chris’ chest and belly. Also draw a downwards curved line for Chris’ shirt sleeve. And also draw an inwards curved line behind the arm.

Step 20

Now draw the bottom of Chris’ shirt (an upwards curved line connecting the back line and the right belly line). Also draw the right arm.

Step 21

Now draw Chris’ right sleeve and a downward curved line for Chris’ tummy. Also draw an upside down capital ‘L’ for the right side of Chris’ right leg.

Step 22

Now draw Chris’ left side of his left leg.

Step 23

Now draw a backwards letter ‘z’ for the bottom and right side of Chris’ left leg.

Step 24

Now draw a capital letter ‘L’ like shape for the left and bottom of Chris’ left shoe. Also draw the bottom cuff of Chris’ right pants leg.

Step 25

Now draw the rest of Chris’ shoes by drawing a sideways capital letter ‘J’.

Step 26

Now draw a capital ‘T’ like shape in each of Chris’ shoes.

Step 27

Now draw 4 curved lines in Chris’ left shoe and 3 in Chris’ right shoe.

Now you just have to erase lines that you don’t need and outline the ‘correct’ lines with a pen or marker. If you are having problems figuring out which lines to erase, then reference my drawing (above) for help. With the thick outside dark marker line, doesn’t Chris Griffin look Awesome?!
