Draw a capital letter ‘Y’
Now turn the bottom of the capital letter ‘Y’ into the the butterfly’s body (as shown above). Also draw 2 little circles above the body to represent butterfly eyes.
Now draw the butterfly’s wings by drawing a capital letter ‘C’ like shape and a backwards capital letter ‘C’ like shape.
Now draw a downwards curved line on the bottom 3rd of the wing (now it should look like 2 eye shapes looking back at you). Also draw 3 shaded in ovals inside the butterfly’s wings.
Now draw the butterfly’s antennas as well as details on the wings – such as lines and hashed lines to give the butterfly a more realistic style.
Draw a letter ‘X’ to start drawing the butterfly.
Now draw a body within the letter ‘x’ and draw 2 small circles above the body for the butterfly’s eyes.
Now draw the outside of each wing…it sort of looks like a backwards number ‘3’ on the left and a number ‘3’ on the right.
Now draw 2 flattened ‘u’ like shapes in the center of the butterfly. Also draw 2 sideways letter ‘v’s for the center of the butterfly ( or just make the ‘x’ slightly curvier). Also draw 2 ‘o’ like shapes inside the wings.
Now just draw in the details such as antennas, patterns, lines, etc.
