Who doesn’t love the Looney Tune cartoons? This classic cartoon has been around for generations so I though that there would be a load of people who would enjoy learning how to draw the funny characters from the show. Since Valentine’s Day is coming up, I thought that we could learn how to draw Pepe Le Pew with his heart pounding out of his chest … he is always in Love with Sylvester the cat. 🙂  This is a step by step drawing tutorial in which I slowly teach you how to build up the character’s form. Enjoy!

How to Draw Pepe Le Pew – The Skunk from Looney Tunes

Step 1

To start drawing Pepe Le Pew, draw an oval nose with another smaller oval inside of it (for the nose’s highlight. Then draw a sideways letter ‘c’ like shape around the nose.

Step 2

Then draw another sideways letter ‘c’ like shape around the first ‘c’ (as seen above). On the left side, draw a downwards curve.

Step 3

Now draw the skunk’s teeth with three lines in the mouth. Also draw 2 ovals above the nose (for the Pepe Le Pew’s eyes).

Step 4

Now draw an ‘M’ like shape above the eyes. Also draw downwards curved lines above the eyes for eyebrows.

Step 5

Now draw a downwards curved line (sort of looks like an upside down letter ‘u’). above the eyebrows. Also draw the left ear…which sort of looks like a letter ‘c’ with a smaller letter ‘c’ within it.

Step 6

Now draw Pepe Le Pew’s skunk hair on the top of his head.

Step 7

Now draw the line in his hair. Also draw Pepe’s left cheek which looks like an upside down capital letter ‘L’.

Step 8

Now under Pepe Le Pew’s teeth draw a sideways capital letter ‘H’ that has a curve at the right bottom end of it. Also draw another upside down letter ‘L’ like shape above the last one that you drew.

Step 9

Now draw Pepe Le Pew’s heart with some lines around it.

Step 10

Now draw a letter ‘v’ like shape under Pepe’s left cheek. Also draw some more lines on the skunk’s chest.

Step 11

Draw some more lines on the chest (looks like a number ’11’).

Step 12

Now draw a letter ‘j’ and a number ‘3’. It is easier to draw when you can see things as letters and numbers.

Step 13

Now draw a backwards letter ‘j’. Also draw a number ‘2’ like shape.

Step 14

Now draw a curved line down Pepe’s back. Also draw an ‘m’ on the hand.

Step 15

Now draw the markings on the skunk’s stomach by drawing a letter ‘c’ like shape.

Step 16

Now draw a backwards number ‘3’ like shape on the foot.

Step 17

Now draw a line and a backwards ‘j’ like shape for the right foot.

Step 18

Now sketch out a bubble letter ‘c’ like shape (or the shape of a cookie with a bite taken out of it). Also make motion lines around the heart, hands and head.

Step 19

Now follow the ‘c’ shape while making zig-zag like shapes along the tail and inside of it. On the inside of the tail, just follow the ‘c’ line.

Step 20

Now continue with the zigzag on the top of the tail, but when you get to the top right of the ‘c’ shape, make a letter ‘v’ like turn (as seen above because the tail folds over at the top.

Step 21

Now just make 2 motion marks near the tail with 2 inwards-curved lines.

Now you just have to  erase lines that you don’t need and outline the ‘correct’ lines with a black pen or marker. Making thick, interesting lines instead of the thin pencil lines makes quite a difference in the end result, doesn’t it?
